THE CLINIC
Physical health influences a student’s ability to participate fully in school life. The health clinic at St. Mark’s strives to enhance each student’s well being. The clinic provides preventive services, health education, and direct, quality nursing care to students with illnesses and minor injuries. Comprehensive, confidential healthcare and allergy plans are established for children requiring this attention. Our spacious clinic, located on the ground floor of the administration building, houses our school nurse.
The nurse's primary role is to provide direct care for the students in the event of minor injuries or illnesses, including administering medication once properly authorized. In addition, our nurse educates students in healthy lifestyle practices, such as hand washing, hydration, diet, and exercise. When children leave the clinic, they not only feel better physically, but they are filled with warm reassurance.
CRISIS RESPONSE
St. Mark’s Episcopal School functions with efficiency at all times. If faced with a crisis, we are prepared to react, adapt, and collaborate with our community partners specializing in health, safety, and emergencies. Having anticipated the complexities of emergencies and the ways they might affect our school community, St. Mark’s crisis response team developed a plan that addresses the following: safety and security, dissemination of accurate information to the response team, staff, students, and parents, and the emotional and psychological needs of all. Paramount to our plan is caring for your children and their needs.
Plans are regularly reviewed, updated, and drilled. These plans include procedures to respond to critical incidents, such as fire, tornado, threat, or suspicious activity. Actions taken during any type of emergency situation depend on the specifics of the incident. According to the nature of the threat, a lockdown or evacuation may be ordered. School administrators are on how to work with each of these situations in order to protect our campus and community.
