CORNERSTONE SCHOLARSHIP AT ST. MARK'S
The Cornerstone Scholarship was founded in an effort to transform the lives of children in underserved neighborhoods within our local communities. By removing the financial constraints associated with attending an independent school, this program offers deserving students a chance for life-long success. Funds raised help underwrite the various costs related to a student’s education and life at St. Mark’s. The Financial Aid Program remains separate from the scholarship program and aids families who need tuition assistance. Funding for the scholarship program comes from a variety of sources. Seed donations have come from generous donors within St. Mark’s, and we are actively seeking additional funding from resources outside of our immediate community. One of the most powerful ways to support this program is to make a donation to St. Mark’s School Endowment Fund. An endowed gift to the Cornerstone Scholarship, which will grow in perpetuity, can transform not only one student’s life with the opportunity of a St. Mark’s education, but many.
GARDNER FAMILY MERIT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
In 2011, Mr. William Street, grandparent of three students who attended St. Mark's from 1998-2011, established the Gardner Family Merit Scholarship Program to benefit middle school students who demonstrated academic achievement, exemplary character, and a commitment to service. Ms. Woody Gardner, mother of the three St. Mark's alumni, has reintroduced the scholarship program.
The Gardner Family Merit Scholarship and St. Mark's Episcopal School will award two scholarships annually to rising 6th grade students (one currently enrolled student and one new student). Each award covers 50% of the annual tuition starting in 6th grade and can be awarded consecutively to the same student for 7th and 8th grade at St. Mark's Episcopal School as long as the student continues to meet the scholarship program requirements.
ST. MARK'S SCHOOL ENDOWMENT FUND
St. Mark’s School Endowment Fund, was created to ensure financial stability for the future of our school. In order to promote steady growth, three percent (3%) of funds raised from the Annual Fund and the School Auction are designated to the endowment each year. Recently, the School Endowment Committee made the bold decision to endow the Cornerstone Scholarship program. Gifts to the endowment fund will benefit deserving children in our area who could not otherwise afford to attend St. Mark’s School. Your gift to the endowment fund will compound in value, providing greater resources and the ability to provide more children the chance to receive a St. Mark’s education. Donations and bequests of all amounts are graciously welcomed.
